According to a report by Fabrizio Romano, Stade Rennais have reached an agreement with FC Barcelona for Mikayil Faye (20). The young centre-back is expected to arrive in the North of France where he will undertake a medical ahead of signing on the dotted line.
Romano reports that Faye will leave Barcelona for a €12 million fixed fee and a 25% sell-on clause. However, Barcelona reportedly have kept an option to buy back the defender for a figure thought to be above €35 million.
Mika Faye a long-term target for French clubs
Faye has been a long-term target for French clubs. Lille OSC were thought to be rivalling Rennes’ interest in the defender. In the winter transfer window, RC Lens were reportedly keen to secure Faye’s signature as they looked for an option to replace Massadio Haïdara (31) who at the time had agreed to join FC Nantes (although he subsequently remained at Lens after Les Sang et Or were unable to find an adequate replacement).
