Rennes prospect Désiré Doué seen attending Barcelona-Atlético Madrid

Rennes attacking midfielder Désiré Doué (17), one of Ligue 1’s most exciting teenage prospects, was seen attending the LaLiga game between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid on Sunday with his representative, former Manchester United man Mikaël Silvestre. Currently sidelined with a thigh muscle injury, Doué had a day off for Sunday. However, at the same time, Rennes were losing 1-0 away at Montpellier despite having the advantage in numbers after Téji Savanier was sent off.

According to RMC Sport, the Brittany club were unaware of their player’s trip to Spain. Reportedly, his teammates, staff and club executives alike were angered by it. Fans have also lamented what they see as a lack of consideration from Doué towards his formative club. Called to react, the Rennes club management replied that this matter had been “settled internally“. RMC Sport adds that club president Oliver Cloarec and Sporting Director Florian Maurice have summoned Doué to remind him of his responsabilities towards the club. Doué is tied to Stade Rennais over a contract due to expire in 2025.
