Originally scheduled for this Sunday evening (8.45 pm), the clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais, part of the eighth matchday of Ligue 1, is expected to be postponed until the following day, according to reports in L’Équipe.
Requested by the Paris Police Prefecture, which contacted the Professional Football League (LFP) and both clubs on Wednesday, this postponement is reportedly in response to the demonstrations planned for Saturday in the capital. Elsewhere in France, the Ligue 1 fixture between Toulouse FC and ESTAC Troyes (from Saturday 24th to Sunday 25th) and the Ligue 2 fixture between Montpellier HSC and Red Star (from Saturday 24th to Monday 26th) have already been officially rescheduled.
If the postponement of the match between PSG and OL were to be confirmed, it would take place at the same time as the Ballon d’Or ceremony. This is a similar situation to last season, when Olympique de Marseille and PSG, who were due to play Le Classique on Sunday evening, ended up facing each other on Monday due to heavy rain. Whilst Les Rouge et Bleu were defeated that evening (1-0), Ousmane Dembélé (29) was crowned the winner of the prestigious award.
