According to L’Équipe, Rennes are considering dismissing Jorge Sampaoli from his services at Roahzon Park. Despite being appointed as the new head coach of Les Rogues et Noirs on the 11th of November, the Breton club are seriously weighing up whether to sack the former Marseille manager.
Sampaoli was appointed to replace Julien Stéphan at Rennes and to try and steer the club with European qualification ambitions away from a relegation battle. However, since the Argentinan took over from Stéphan, things have worsened, and the club have tumbled down the standings to 16th place in Ligue 1.
Rennes’ next match is set to take place against Strasbourg on Sunday evening. As things stand, Sampaoli could be dismissed before the Ligue 1 club’s next match – putting another new face in the dugout for the contest against the Alsatian club as they look to progress up the table.
