As reported by AS, Real Madrid are not planning to ‘liberate’ Mariano Díaz from his contract and let him leave the club for free.
Earlier this week it was communicated that Mariano has told Los Blancos’ management his desire to leave the club this transfer window as he does not believe Carlo Ancelotti will include him in his future plans.
However, the club has told the 29-year-old that they won’t let him leave on a free transfer. While Mariano’s exit would allow the club to stop paying his €9.5m-a-year salary, it would also mean that the club will not receive a transfer fee for a player for whom they paid €33m back in 2018.
Even though the Spanish-Dominican striker would like to find a new destination during this transfer window and Real Madrid are willing to fulfil Mariano’s wishes, the Spanish champions are not ready to let go of the player at any cost.
