A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid on Sunday secured for himself an altogether impressive individual benchmark.
The player in question? Joselu.
Veteran frontman Joselu was afforded his latest starting berth this evening, as Real Madrid made the trip to La Cerámica for a meeting with Villarreal.
When all was said and done, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops were guilty of a somewhat bizarre collapse, carrying a three-goal lead into the interval only to emerge with a share of the spoils in a 4-4 draw.
Joselu, for his part, was amongst the goals for the visitors, doubling Real Madrid’s advantage with half an hour on the clock.
And, in the process, the on-loan Espanyol man secured for himself an altogether noteworthy piece of recent La Liga history.
As revealed by statisticians Opta, Joselu is ‘the first player to score 10+ goals in each of the last five La Liga seasons’.
