In a recent report, Defensa Central claimed that Real Madrid are open to cashing in on Ferland Mendy this summer. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos are willing to let the French defender leave when the transfer window reopens later this summer.

Mendy’s Excellent Run Of Form In The Spanish Capital This Season

Mendy has enjoyed a brilliant campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium as he put in several impressive displays and managed to help Real Madrid win both the La Liga title and the UEFA Champions League trophy. The 26-year-old has netted two goals and secured five assists in 35 matches for the French outfit this season across various competitions.

The seven-time France international has proven his worth as a reliable performer down the left flank by averaging 1.1 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 0.9 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per game in La Liga. He has even been excellent when distributing possession going forward after completing 92% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).

Real Madrid Open To Cashing In On Mendy: Good Move For Everyone Involved?

Mendy can get stuck in with some crunching tackles and is usually quick to spot the danger that helps him make a few important interceptions inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when required and can set up a few decent chances for his teammates in the opposition half. The Frenchman can even make a few driving runs with the ball on the left wing. He also takes care of the ball when playing his way out from the back.

Therefore, losing a left-back of Mendy’s quality will no doubt reduce the quality of Carlo Ancelotti‘s first XI. However, the Real Madrid head coach could use David Alaba as a left-back following the arrival of Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer from Chelsea recently which would free him up to cash in on the seven-time France international this summer.

Mendy can also benefit from sealing a move elsewhere as he prepares for the next chapter of his football career. Los Blancos can benefit from using the money generated from the French talent’s potential sale to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign. All in all, it will be a good move for both the player and the Madrid club to part ways with each other in this off-season.
