Real Madrid defender Miguel Gutiérrez is very close to joining Girona, according to Mario Cortegana of Marca.
Madrid will sell 50% of the full-back’s rights and will include a buy-back option, as per the report. Girona have made an offer for five seasons, with Míchel and Quique Cárcel managing to convince Gutiérrez.
The 21-year-old would have found it difficult to break into Carlo Ancelotti’s team this season with Ferland Mendy and David Alaba both set to play in the role across the season, but Madrid are open to keeping the option of one day having him in their team.
Getafe pulled out of the race to sign Gutiérrez because they could not afford anything more than a loan deal. For Real Betis, their finances were also an issue.
Barring a last-minute surprise, Gutiérrez will head to Montilivi, in a bid to help the newly-promoted side push on this season.
