Real Madrid are reportedly lining up a surprise transfer move for Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate.
The France international has performed well since moving to Anfield a year and a half ago, but it seems the Reds may now face a fight to keep him.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of Konate, and wants president Florentino Perez to bring the 23-year-old to the Bernabeu.
It’s even suggested that some work behind the scenes has already begun in order to complete this raid on Liverpool, which will undoubtedly be a worry for fans of the Merseyside giants.
Konate has his peak years ahead of him, so Liverpool would do well to keep him as the long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk, rather than cashing in on him now.
