La Liga outfit Real Betis came up short in an effort to bring in a headline member of the midfield ranks at Manchester United with a view to last week’s transfer deadline.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Christian Eriksen as the player in question.
Betis, late last week, found themselves on the lookout for reinforcements in the attacking midfield role.
This came after Nabil Fekir came to the decision to take his talents to the Middle East, linking up with Emirati outfit Al Jazira.
In the end, the brass at the Estadio Benito Villamarín managed to bring in long-time target Giovani Lo Celso, from Tottenham Hotspur.
As alluded to above, though, prior to as much being confirmed, Real Betis also made contact with another Premier League club.
As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:
‘Real Betis approached Man United for Christian Eriksen as [a] last minute target ahead of Deadline Day. No chance for [the] move as there was no agreement on [the] player and club side, but Betis tried.’
