Die Fohlen look increasingly likely to lose another experienced member of their squad.
Stefan Lainer is set to join RB Salzburg, according to the latest news bulletin from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Borussia Mönchengladbach would have liked to keep the right-back, but they are respecting the player’s desire to make the move.
An agreement over a permanent transfer is already in place between Gladbach and the Austrian Bundesliga club.
The deal is expected to be finalised over the weekend, and Lainer is very likely to play for Salzburg at the Club World Cup.
Lainer, even at 32 years of age, put in a good shift in defence last season as he made 21 Bundesliga appearances for Die Fohlen-elf.
