RB Leipzig’s Yussuf Poulsen to miss the start of the season

According to Bild, RB Leipzig forward Yussuf Poulsen will miss the start of the season through injury.

In mid-June, the 28-year-old returned prematurely from the national team with a torn muscle in his adductor. Instead of going on vacation, Poulsen planned to start pre-season training with a little delay but it’s now reported that the Dane will be absent until at least mid-August.

That means Poulsen will miss the Supercup against Bayern Munich on July 30 and the opening game of the season against Stuttgart on August 5-7. Although not in pain, the RB Leipzig has severely torn his adductor, which needs time to heal.

Teammate Emil Forsberg suffered a similar injury last season and missed two-and-a-half months.

Poulsen will undergo another MRI scan in the coming days. Head coach Domenico Tedesco said: “It’s important that he gets back on his feet quickly.”

The Denmark international scored six in 25 Bundesliga games for RB Leipzig last season.
