Speaking to ZDF, RB Leipzig managing director Max Eberl has revealed that the club would like to extend the contract of Marco Rose.
The coach’s current deal expires in 2024 and Leipzig have been happy with the progress so far this season and would like to extend his contract earlier than planned. When asked about the contract situation Eberl said: “We want to extend with Marco, that’s clear.”
Rose took over from Domenico Tedesco in September and has been able to turn the club’s season around. On Wednesday, they comfortably beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 and progressed to the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal for the third season in a row. While in the league they are only two points off of the Champions League places.
Recently, Leipzig have experienced a poor run of form losing three games in a row against Manchester City in the Champions League and in two winnable games in the Bundesliga against relegation threaten Bochum and Mainz.
