Fabrizio Romano reports that RB Leipzig have had an opening bid rejected by Liverpool for midfielder Fabio Carvalho but will engage in discussions soon.
Liverpool rejected the bid as they do not want Carvalho to leave on a permanent basis. According to The Times, the offer was deemed ridiculous.
However, Liverpool could be open to a buyback clause in a possible deal but would prefer a loan deal as Jürgen Klopp sees the 20-year-old as a key part of Liverpool’s future. Carvalho joined Liverpool last summer from Fulham in a deal worth €5.9m.
The reason for a possible departure of Carvalho is the fact that he has not received a lot of playing time in his first season at Liverpool. The midfielder has only played 22 times with most of his appearances being brief cameos off of the bench, his most recent was a six-minute appearance against Leicester City.
