RB Leipzig have confirmed that Christopher Nkunku has extended his contract with the club.

The highly-rated Frenchman’s contract, which was due to expire in 2024, has been extended until 2026.

“I’m delighted to continue wearing the RB Leipzig jersey. After the great success in the DFB Cup, it was clear to me that my time here is not over yet. We want more! I was really impressed by the club’s efforts to keep me,” said Nkunku.

“I would therefore like to thank all those responsible for the trust they have placed in me, and especially [club CEO] Oliver Mintzlaff, with whom I have always been in close contact. RB Leipzig has made a name for itself internationally in recent years, and we have repeatedly confirmed that we can compete for titles. In the future, we want to build on that and win more.”

According to reports, Nkunku’s new contract includes a €60 million release clause, which can be activated in the summer of 2023.

Nkunku enjoyed an impressive 2021/22 campaign for Leipzig, racking up 35 goals and 19 assists in 50 games for the club.
