Both RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are interested in bringing Naby Keïta back to the Bundesliga in the summer on a free transfer, reports SportBild.
Keïta’s contract expires in the summer and is interested in a return to the Bundesliga. Dortmund had previously shown an interest in bringing Keïta back on a free this coming summer. While Leipzig made an offer in January after Dani Olmo tore his muscle fibres, only for it to be declined by Jürgen Klopp who wished to keep the 28-year-old.
Dortmund see Keïta as a potential replacement for Jude Bellingham, who could potentially leave in the summer. While Dortmund are also close to completing the transfer of Daichi Kamada on a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt, who some believe is a replacement for Bellingham but is more likely a replacement for Mahmoud Dahoud.
While Leipzig are less worried about their midfield options after recently signing Nicolas Seiwald from Red Bull Salzburg to replace the departing Konrad Laimer.
Wherever Keïta wishes to go he would likely demand a salary of around €7 million. The 28-year-old’s last spell in the Bundesliga lasted two years between 2016-2018 before he joined Liverpool from Leipzig for €60 million.
