L’Équipe journalist Loïc Tanzi reports that Rayan Cherki (21) has signed his contract ahead of the officialisation of his move to Manchester City from formative club Olympique Lyonnais.
As per L’Équipe, the France international will move to the Etihad Stadium in a deal worth over €40m. His move to Manchester, away from Lyon, where he has spent the entirety of his career, comes ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup. With the deal set to be completed before Tuesday’s deadline, he is expected to take part in that competition, meaning that he will soon fly over to the US with his new teammates.
L’Équipe reported on Monday that the Frenchman would sign a five-year deal with the Cityzens, who have beaten tough competition to land his signature. As per L’Équipe, Liverpool manager Arne Slot spoke with Cherki in order to tempt the OL forward to make the move to Anfield, whilst Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur were all also linked.
