According to Bild, Raphaël Guerreiro could now stay at Borussia Dortmund past this summer but instead be used as a central midfielder.
Guerreiro’s contract is set to expire in four months time, but it is now possible that Dortmund will begin negotiations over a new contract that would keep the left-back at the club.
However, during Dortmund’s 2-2 draw with Schalke at the weekend, Guerreiro was used as a central midfielder where he scored and assisted. It now seems to be that is where his future lies at Dortmund.
This is unlikely to affect the arrival of Ramy Bensebaini who is set to join on a free transfer in the summer. Dortmund can possibly head into a position next season where they have both Guerreiro and Bensebaini, but Bensebaini will be used as the primary left-back.
No decision is definite yet when it comes to Guerreiro.
