In a recent report, Birmingham Mail mentioned that Rangers are eyeing a loan move for Aston Villa forward Cameron Archer. It has been revealed that the Villans forward is a loan target for both the Scottish outfit as well as Preston North End where he had a fruitful loan stay last season.

Archer’s Impressive Run Of Form In English Football

Archer enjoyed his time on loan at Preston as he managed to put in some influential displays for them in the EFL Championship. The 20-year-old banged in seven goals and secured one assist in 20 matches for the English outfit this season in all competitions.

The Walsall-born talent performed well to average 2.3 shots, 0.8 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the EFL Championship. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after making 78.2% of his attempted passes in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).

Rangers Eyeing A Loan Move For Aston Villa Forward Archer: Good Move For Everyone Involved?

Archer can make space for himself to get a few shots in on-target and can even create some decent chances for others around him in the final third. He can even time his runs well in behind the opponent’s backline and has begun to prove his worth as a tidy finisher up top.

However, at 20, Archer is still quite raw and would need more game time to sharpen up his all-around game in the attacking end of the pitch.

Therefore, it makes sense for the Villans to send him out on loan either to Rangers or Preston North End once again this summer. A season-long loan deal would do the youngster’s confidence a world of good while Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard can reap the dividends of having him play regularly away from Villa Park in the upcoming campaign.

Hopefully, Archer would be able to come back to the West Midlands club as a much-improved version of himself in the summer of 2023 if the Villans decide to sanction his temporary departure in the coming weeks. With all things considered, it will be a good move for everyone involved if Archer goes out on loan this summer.
