Paris Saint-Germain secured their third successive Ligue 1 title on Sunday after AS Monaco failed to beat Olympique Lyonnais at the Groupama Stadium. It is PSG’s 10th Ligue 1 title under the current QSI ownership and the twelfth in their history.
Les Parisiens could have wrapped up the title against Le Havre AC on Saturday evening but failed to do so after being held to a dramatic 3-3 draw, however, regardless of that result, the trophy ceremony was always scheduled for 12th May, when Toulouse FC will visit the Parc des Princes.
It is then that PSG will get their hands on the coveted Hexagoal trophy – and it will be the final time. As part of the re-branding of France’s top-flight, which has notably seen the modernisation of the league’s logo, the Hexagoal too will be replaced with another trophy next season, in line with the more slick and modern look that the LFP’s re-branding is looking to achieve.
