Paris Saint-Germain have announced that they have cancelled the traditional PSG Foundation gala dinner, which was due to take place on Tuesday, due to the hospitalisation of their goalkeeper, Sergio Rico (29), who remains in intensive care in Seville.
Rico has been in the intensive care unit at the Virgen del Rocío hospital since Sunday following a collision with a runaway horse, which left the PSG goalkeeper with a severe head injury. The hospital, as well as the player’s wife, Alba Silva, provided an update on Tuesday morning stating that whilst the player was “stable” he was still in intensive care. More will be known about Rico’s situation in the coming days.
PSG teammate Carlos Soler, as well as FC Sevilla President Pepe Castro, have both paid visits to Rico in hospital and in solidarity with their player, PSG have no cancelled Tuesday’s gala in Paris. “The current situation requires our full attention and obliges us to cancel our traditional gala. The big PSG family is deeply touched by the drama affecting Sergio Rico and his close ones. On behalf of all of the club’s teams, I want to assure them of our full support and my deepest sympathies in this difficult time,” said PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi in an official press release from the club.
