According to RMC Sport, Paris Saint-Germain are desperate to offload veteran midfielder Marco Verratti (30), who has been omitted from the club’s UEFA Champions League group-stage squad.
Verratti, who has been at PSG for over a decade, during which time he has racked up over 400 appearances for Les Parisiens, was informed by Luis Enrique and Luis Campos earlier in the summer that he was surplus to requirements at the club, and that he should look for a new club.
Actions speak louder than words, and the club’s actions since have indicated that the Italian international has no future at the club. Verratti is yet to be included in a matchday squad under Enrique, whilst he has also been omitted from the squad list communicated by PSG to UEFA, according to RMC Sport.
PSG are now hoping that they can offload Verratti, and quickly. The transfer windows in many of the major European leagues have now closed, but the most intense interest is coming from Qatar. As reported by RMC Sport a few days ago, an agreement between PSG and Al-Arabi for Verratti’s transfer was close to being found. With the Qatari transfer window open until 18th September, PSG will be hoping to finalise Verratti’s departure.
