PSG confirm Warren Zaïre-Emery out until 2024

Following Warren Zaïre-Emery’s (17) worrying injury during France’s game against Gibraltar, the football world held its breath, as they awaited news regarding the young midfielder’s period of unavailability.

Today, in an official club statement, PSG broke the news: “Having suffered a moderately bad sprain to the right ankle, Warren Zaïre-Emery will remain in treatment until the winter break.”

As a reminder, it was a night to celebrate for Kylian Mbappé (24) and his partners, as Les Bleus conquered Gibraltar in a record-breaking match which saw them win 14-0 at home. It was also a night which saw PSG and European football star boy Zaïre-Emery get his first cap for the France national team.

A major headache for Luis Enrique as he loses midfield metronome Zaïre-Emery

WZE even managed to one-up that already exciting achievement, as he bagged the third goal of the match, following great wingwork from Kingsley Coman (27). The perfect debut for the midfield prodigy, which was unfortunately cut short in a dramatic fashion, as Gibraltarian centreback Ethan Santos (24), in an attempt at last-ditch defending, missed the ball and caught Zaïre-Emery on the ankle. A red-card drawing foul which saw the Frenchman leave the pitch grimacing and limping heavily.

PSG boss Luis Enrique will therefore have to do without one of his most trusted squad elements, as since the start of the season, Warren had become one of the first names to be expected on the club’s match sheets, becoming a perfect balancing force in the Parisian midfield. The Spaniard will have to find solutions for up-and-coming fixtures in Ligue 1, and perhaps the most important, Champions League games against Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund before Christmas.
