Prices For Accommodation at Golf’s US Open Skyrocket

The cost of temporary accomodation in the surrounding areas of Oakmont Country Club — widely considered one of the sternest tests in golf, tougher than Augusta National, perhaps — has skyrocketed as the sport gets ready for the upcoming US Open, one of the sport’s most prestigious trophies and considered one of the four majors.

The majors have provided plenty of drama so far this year as Rory McIlroy claimed the first green jacket of his career, completing a long-overdue Grand Slam. His form throughout 2025, together with his success at The Masters, prompted many to put him in the running at the next major — the PGA Championship.

However, Scottie Scheffler, the world’s No.1-ranked player, reminded everyone just how good he is with a professional win at the very tournament he was arrested, one year on from the last PGA Championship.

Whether a new major winner will announce themselves at the US Open in Oakmont remains to be seen. But plenty are expecting the event to be a hot ticket as AirBnb and the general cost of temporary housing has shot up in recent times.

How Much it Costs to Stay Near Oakmont Country Club

AirBnb prices have skyrocketed ahead of US Open in golf

According to VegasInsider.com data sent to GIVEMESPORT, a five-night stay for two adults in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, and its surrounding areas has increased an extraordinary 157.5% for the week of the 11th of June to 16th, with average AirBnb cost for that period totaling $3,391.

The report continues with the finding that the most expensive accommodation available on Airbnb for US Open golf week is a 3-bedroom house that’s a 1.5-mile walk from the country club, but it would set you back $47,819. The most budget-friendly option is a private room within a house, with a shared bathroom, and is a more drivable 4-mile distance from the country club for $1,051.

The same website regards Scottie Scheffler as the favorite to win the tournament by a considerable margin. Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, and Jon Rahm are expected to challenge Scheffler for the title, while Ludvig Aberg, Bryson DeChambeau, and Collin Morikawa should be considered, too, according to Vegas Insider.

The defending champion is Bryson Dechambeau — a LIV Golf superstar — who won the US Open in 2020 and 2024. Previous winners include Wyndham Clark (2023), Matt Fitzpatrick (2022), and Rahm (2021).

The competition begins on the 12th of June.
