Germany will travel to London in their final UEFA Nations League game against already relegated England. This will be Die Mannschaft’s final game before the World Cup and with Hansi Flick’s team still experiencing some teething problems, they will want to go into the tournament on a high.
Friday’s 1-0 loss to Hungary in Leipzig was Flick’s first loss as a coach and it ruled Germany out of potentially qualifying for the Nations League finals. The game itself did highlight some of the problem areas that need to be addressed before they kick off their World Cup campaign against Japan in less than two months.
The defeat showed that Germany lacks a classic number nine striker and the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Lukas Nmecha are inconsistent. With the current squad at his disposal Flick will not have the time to tinker against England.
Another area was the need for Jamal Musiala. Flick has already stated that the Bayern Munich player will start against England. Musiala is in red hot form with four goals and one assist in six games for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and his attacking presence would be more greatly felt especially against an out of form England team.
Germany’s opponents go into this game having lost 1-0 to Italy in Milan. A Giacomo Raspadori goal separated the teams and relegated England to League B.
The previous meeting between the teams saw them share the points in a 1-1 draw in Munich with Jonas Hofmann opening the scoring before Harry Kane equalised with a penalty.
England vs Germany predicted line-up
England: Ramsdale – Stones, Tomori, Coady – Trippier, Bellingham, Rice, Chilwell – Foden, Sterling, Kane
Germany: ter Stegen – Kehrer, Süle, Schlotterbeck, Gosens – Kimmich, Gündogan – Hofmann, Müller, Musiala – Havertz.
