Youssouf Fofana (24) is almost certain to depart AS Monaco this season, as confirmed by the club’s CEO Thiago Scuro. Fofana was omitted from Les Monégasques’ final pre-season friendly, a 3-0 victory over Barcelona. His absence was explained post-match. “It makes no sense, in such an important season, to keep a player that is not fully committed to us. It’s normal that he wasn’t on the team-sheet, because he has no intention of staying,” stated Monaco’s CEO.
Premier League sides have shown considerable interest in the France international, who has just one year remaining on his deal with the Principality club. L’Équipe reported on Tuesday that West Ham United and Manchester United had made enquiries for Fofana, however, Fabrizio Romano understands that he will not be making a switch across the Channel.
Fofana is determined to make a move to AC Milan, who have shown considerable interest this summer. He is therefore waiting on a move to the Italian club and is, as things stand, opposed to a move to the Premier League.
However, AC Milan are yet to reach any agreement with Monaco, who are looking for a figure upwards of €30m to let their star midfielder leave.
