Thomas Tuchel’s biggest conundrum when his Bayern Munich team face Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday night is who replaces Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
The Cameroonian forward, who has four goals in six Champions League games this season, hasn’t travelled with the Bayern squad to Manchester and will miss the game with a knee injury. Choupo-Moting also missed the game against Freiburg at the weekend, and Tuchel opted for Serge Gnabry.
In midfield, Leon Goretzka is expected to return alongside Joshua Kimmich which means that one of Sadio Mané or Gnabry would likely drop to the bench, with Jamal Musiala keeping his place.
Kingsley Coman, who was an unused substitute against Freiburg, completed a training session on Monday and is an option to start, but is more likely to find his place on the bench with Tuchel opting for Leroy Sané, who will face his former club.
Defensively, it will be between Benjamin Pavard and Joao Cancelo for the right-back spot, with Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs de Ligt and Alphonso Davies making up the back four.
Predicted Bayern Munich XI vs Manchester City
Yann Sommer – Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs de Ligt, Alphonso Davies – Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka – Leroy Sané, Thomas Müller, Jamal Musiala – Serge Gnabry.
