Atlético Madrid take on Girona on Monday night knowing that a win at Montilivi will keep them in the running for the Champions League places.
Rivals Real Sociedad and Real Betis have drawn their matches this weekend and Los Colchoneros can take full advantage in third place.
To do so, Diego Simeone is only planning one change to the eleven that beat Sevilla last time out. Nahuel Molina will go straight into the starting line-up, freeing up Marcos Llorente from the defensive role. Koke is set to start as a pivot with Llorente and Thomas Lemar alongside him in midfield.
In attack, the pairing of Memphis Depay and Antoine Griezmann worked well in the 6-1 drubbing of Sevilla last weekend. The Dutchman is aiming for another start, the second since he joined the club. He scored a brace against Sevilla last Saturday night. Depay works well with Griezmann, the most important player in the team and a player who is currently in fantastic form.
In defence, Simeone will continue with his three centre-backs. Reinildo is out injured along with fellow defender Sergio Reguilón.
Possible Atlético XI vs Girona
According to AS, Diego Simeone could play the following XI against Girona:
Oblak – Molina, Giménez, Savic, Hermoso, Carrasco – Koke, Llorente, Lemar – Griezmann, Depay.
