Hamburger SV have confirmed that Yusuf Poulsen suffered an injury to his left ankle earlier this afternoon, 18 December.
The Danish striker encountered pain around the syndesmosis joint area during training and as a result will be out for several weeks.
The incident involving the 31-year-old happened during training, where he twisted his ankle awkwardly without contact from another player.
Poulsen immediately underwent thorough examinations at the Athleticum training center in Volkspark.
Thankfully, the Dane will not require surgery on the affected area but will be unavailable to the Red Shorts for several weeks.
It goes without saying that Poulsen will not feature against Eintracht Frankfurt this Saturday before the Bundesliga takes it’s winter break.
