The game was played at a high tempo from start to finish, as Real Betis picked up three points thanks to Rodri’s second half goal.
REAL BETIS
Rui Silva: 7.5 – Made a highlight-worthy save to deny Giovani Lo Celso scoring from Villarreal counter in the first half.
Youssouf Sabaly: 7.5 – Positive influence, making a crucial goal-line block and being an ever-present outlet on the overlap.
Gérman Pezzella: 6 – Lucky to get away with a scuffed clearance that sent Jackson through, but a solid game otherwise.
Luiz Felipe: 8 – Another impressive defensive display with six blocks and three clearances.
Álex Moreno: 7
Guido Rodríguez: 7
William Carvalho: 7.5 – A very strong presence in midfield.
Luiz Henrique: 6.5 – Made up for a very lacklustre first half with a magnificent cross to Rodri for the assist. Still a lot of room for improvement.
Sergio Canales: 7
Rodri Sánchez: 7 – Scored the winner with a well-made run at the back post.
Borja Iglesias: 7 – Put in a tireless shift up against the seasoned Villarreal defence, despite not scoring goal.
SUBSTITUTES:
Aitor Ruibal: 6
Andrea Guardado: 6
Willian Jose: 6
VILLARREAL:
Gerónimo Rulli: 6.5
Kiko Femenía: 6.5 – Solid performance defensively, with a great challenge to prevent Canales on the breakaway.
Raúl Albiol: 7.5 – An impeccable defensive performance, making a game-high eight clearances.
Pau Torres: 7
Alfonso Pedraza: 5.5
Étienne Capoue: 6.5
Dani Parejo: 6 – He orchestrated the midfield. Was slightly lucky to not concede a penalty in the first half.
Yeremy Pino: 5 – Found very little joy up against Álex Moreno.
Giovani Lo Celso: 4.5 – Got into good positions, but made none of it count with sloppy touches and slow reactions. Missed a huge chance in the first half to finish a Villarreal counter-attack.
Nicholas Jackson: 6.5 – Bright in the first half, being the catalyst in opening up a great opportunity, before failing to make Pezzella pay for his defensive error. Faded away in the second half.
Gerard Moreno: 5 – Lacked end-product, as his shot at a keeper-less target was blocked. His night ended early, being taken off in the 54th minute due to an injury.
SUBSTITUTES:
Samu Chukwueze: 7 – A livewire on the flanks, creating some chances with his pace and creativity, which ultimately did not lead to a Villarreal goal.
Álex Baena: 5.5
Francis Coquelin: 6
Johan Mojica: 6
José Luis Morales: 5.5
