Player Ratings | Eintracht Frankfurt 3-3 Borussia Dortmund

After their exploits in Europe in midweek, Borussia Dortmund travelled to Eintracht Frankfurt who have one of the best defenses in the league.

The first half proved to be eventful with Frankfurt handed a penalty after a harsh handball from Marius Wolf which Omar Marmoush would then convert. Frankfurt were the strongest team through the half and doubled their lead through Marmoush again finishing off a Frankfurt counter and pouncing on a Gregor Kobel parry. Dortmund would cut the lead in half just before halftime with a goal from Marcel Sabitzer.

The second half was just as exciting as the first half as Youssoufa Moukoko equalised for Dortmund in the 54th minute. Frankfurt would then retake the lead through Farès Chaïbi before Julian Brandt equalised once again to rescue a point for Dortmund.

Dortmund stay fourth and remain unbeaten despite the draw, while Frankfurt currently sit seventh. Both teams are in action in the DFB Pokal midweek, with Dortmund against Hoffenheim and Frankfurt against Viktoria Köln.

Eintracht Frankfurt:

Kevin Trapp – 6

Tuta – 6

Robin Koch – 6

Willian Pacho – 6

Aurelio Buta – 5

Hugo Larsson – 6

Ellyes Skhiri – 6

Philipp Max – 6

Farès Chaïbi – 7 – After a strong performance in midweek against HJK, Chaïbi continued where he left off scoring his first goal for Frankfurt and Ramy Bensebaini was unable to handle his countryman. Similar to Marmoush, Chaïbi will not be able to fill the wholes left by Jesper Lindstrøm and Daichi Kamada but the 20-year-old has shown he has the capabilities

Ansgar Knauff – 5

Omar Marmoush – 8 – Two goals but the Egyptian would have felt that he could have had more having been a nuisance to Dortmund’s defence in the first half. After a settling period, Marmoush may not reach the same numbers that Randal Kolo Muani did but the Frenchman’s absence is no longer as obvious in Frankfurt’s attack.

Others: Eric Dina-Ebimbe (6), Mario Götze (6), Niels Nkounkou (-), Jens Petter Hauge (-)

Borussia Dortmund:

Gregor Kobel – 5

Marius Wolf – 4

Mats Hummels – 5

Nico Schlotterbeck – 5

Ramy Bensebaini – 4 – Showed his lack of consistency in defence once again. During his time at Gladbach, Bensebaini showed his defending is not solid all the time and it was shown again today when up against Chaïbi and Aurelio Buta when he would get overrun on the attack. The introduction of Karim Adeyemi made his job a lot easier in the second half.

Salih Özcan – 5

Marcel Sabitzer – 6

Donyell Malen – 5

Marco Reus – 5

Giovanni Reyna – 4 – Absent throughout the whole first half and did not contribute in defence resulting in Bensebaini being exposed. Reyna showed again why he has struggled to nail down a starting spot for Dortmund as of late and the fact that Dortmund’s attack improved once Adeyemi was introduced.

Niclas Füllkrug – 5

Others: Alexander Meyer (4), Youssoufa Moukoko (6), Karim Adeyemi (6), Julian Brandt (6), Niklas Süle (5)
