Paul Pogba requests counter-analysis of positive anti-doping test for testosterone

Paul Pogba has requested a counter-analysis after testing positive for testosterone during a routine anti-doping test, according to a report from Agence France Presse.

Pogba is provisionally suspended by Italy’s anti-doping court after testing positive for testosterone in the aftermath of Juventus’ Serie A opening-day 3-0 win against Udinese. The France international was an unused substitute in that game. Pogba had five days following his suspension to request a counter-analysis and prove his innocence. It has been reported that the 2018 World Cup winner took a dietary supplement from a doctor in Florida without the permission of Juventus’ medical staff.

As a result of his temporary suspension, Pogba can no longer train with Massimiliano Allegri’s side. Juventus also froze his wages. The former Manchester United midfielder is potentially facing a four-year ban if proven guilty of intentional doping. His potential ban may be reduced if Pogba manages to convince Italy’s anti-doping court he had no intention of breaking anti-doping rules.
