Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett is set to face off against Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title at UFC 324 this weekend, in a bout in which a victory could provide a pathway to unify the belts against Ilia Topuria somewhere down the line.
The straight-talking Scouser is no stranger to a heated feud, and his rivalry with Topuria is no different. The hatred towards one another started back in 2021, due to a now-deleted X post by Pimblett in which he asked, “How stupid are these Georgians man?” in reference to fighter Guram Kutateladze.
“No wonder the Russian terrorise their lives,” he added, in relation to the 2008 Russian invasion of Georgia, in which over 200 Georgians sadly lost their lives.
Paddy Pimblett’s Feud With Ilia Topuria
Understandably, this infuriated fellow Georgian Topuria, who took matters into his own hands as he confronted The Baddy at the fighter hotel in London ahead of UFC Fight Night in March 2022. The altercation led to punches and bottles of hand sanitiser being thrown before the pair were eventually separated.
The pair then threatened to replicate their 2022 confrontation at the UFC 282 press conference after Pimblett claimed that Topuria was “obsessed” with him and that “that little bum’s irrelevant” before referencing their previous altercation by calling his rival “hand sanitiser boy.”
Topuria returned fire by claiming he “walks like a king in your streets,” before the Liverpudlian threatened to “stand up and crush his face right now.” The Georgian then tried to physically confront his rival, but security were quick to act and prevent an outbreak.
Given their storied past, it’s safe to say that Paddy isn’t the biggest fan of El Matador. But despite their previous encounters, Pimblett has revealed that there is someone who he hates even more than Topuria.
Paddy Pimblett’s Most-Hated UFC Fighter Revealed
Speaking on Tom Aspinall’s YouTube channel, Pimblett noted how Arman Tsarukyan is “just one of those lads who think, because his family has got money, he’s got everything handed to him on a plate for years.”
The former Cage Warriors champion then questioned the reason for Tsarukyan’s withdrawal from his UFC 311 bout against Islam Makhachev, saying: “He f****** pulled out of that Islam fight with a ‘bad back’, when really, he just couldn’t make weight.
“Then he got offered to fight [Mateusz] Gamrot and said no, then took the most favorable match-up against Dan Hooker, who can’t grapple to save his mam’s life. He can’t do jiu-jitsu [referring to Hooker], he’s bad at jits, and he nearly guillotined Arman.
“That just shows how bad his grappling is to me. He had an arm around him. I was watching that, thinking, ‘wow, if I get you in a guillotine, you are going unconscious’.”
That is when Pimblett then revealed how he is, in fact, the UFC fighter he hates the most, concluding: “I just don’t like him anyway, I’ve always thought he’s a piece of s***. I think I hate him more than Ilia now, lad.”
