La Liga outfit Osasuna have this evening confirmed an injury blow in Jagoba Arrasate’s squad.
The player set for an incoming spell on the sidelines? Unai García.
Defender García, for his part, was included in the Euskal Selekzioa (The Basque Country national football team) squad for their friendly meeting with Uruguay over the weekend.
Upon Arrosate’s troops taking to the pitch on Saturday evening, however, the 32-year-old was nowhere to be seen.
It was subsequently revealed that García’s absence came owing to an injury, suffered in Euskal Selekzioa training 24 hours prior.
And, on Monday, an insight into the extent of the blow has been confirmed.
As per an official statement across Osasuna’s website and social media platforms, García has suffered ‘an injury to the femoral biceps of his left leg’:
‘Unai García underwent medical tests this afternoon at the University of Navarra Clinic, which confirmed that he has an injury to the femoral biceps of his left leg. The footballer suffered the injury last Friday in Euskal Selekzioa training prior to the match against Uruguay. He remains pending evolution.’
It remains to be seen whether the defender is facing up to any sort of spell on the sidelines, though García’s status for Osasuna’s upcoming La Liga meeting with Almería certainly appears to have been thrown up in the air.
