Jonas Omlin has been made new Borussia Mönchengladbach captain.
The goalkeeper takes over the responsibility following Lars Stindl’s switch to Karlsruher SC, with Julian Weigl and Florian Neuhaus named as his deputies.
“It’s important that we have experienced players who want to and are capable of taking responsibility for the team and the club as a whole”, said Gladbach coach Gerardo Seoane.
“Jonas proved right off the bat that he possesses remarkable leadership qualities.”
Omlin himself said that “it’s a total honor” for him to take over the position.
“I’m so grateful and can’t wait to begin my new role. It’s undeniable, however, that such a responsibility cannot be assumed alone. That’s why I’m thankful to have experienced and strong leaders in Jule and Flo by my side, as well as the four members of the team council.”
