OGC Nice manager Francesco Farioli has confirmed that Khéphren Thuram (22) won’t play again in 2023, after sustaining a knee injury in training last week.
The France international missed last Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Stade de Reims after sustaining the injury. Speaking prior to that match, Farioli revealed that Thuram would be absent, however, the period of absence was yet to be ascertained.
“We hope that his injury is not too serious so that he can quickly return,” said the Italian manager in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News. He added, “I hope [he features again this calendar year] but we have to respect the test results that we receive.
Speaking on Thursday, Farioli revealed the details of Thuram’s injury. The Frenchman suffered a blow to the knee in training, which caused fluid in the joint. As a result, Thuram is out until early January, at the earliest. As expected, neither Sofiane Diop nor Badredine Bouanani will feature before 2024 either.
