Barcelona have announced a contract extension for Sergi Roberto.
The 30-year-old has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal at Camp Nou. The contract was signed on Friday in president Joan Laporta’s office with a salary reduction amounting to 60%.
His salary will now be €5 million gross. The player from Reus, who turned 30 on 7 February, was accompanied by his wife, Coral Simanovich, and his representatives, Josep Maria Orobitg and Oscar Tena. They were joined by Rafa Yuste, vice-president for sport, Eduard Romeu, economic vice-president, as well as Mateu Alemany, director of football, and Jordi Cruyff.
Sergi Roberto will start the pre-season with the Blaugrana on Monday 4 July after a few uncertain months, however, Xavi and the player’s agreement to a salary reduction led to a turnaround and new deal.
