Bundesliga newcomers Schalke have today announced the signing of 30-year-old midfielder Florent Mollet from Montpellier on a three-year contract until 2025.
The Ligue 1 side will receive a reported base fee of €500,000 plus bonuses.
“I’m looking forward to a new challenge in the Bundesliga with Schalke after spending many years in France. I was keen to take this step and I will give everything to help us have a successful season and to keep us in the Bundesliga,” said the Frenchman.
Sporting director Rouven Schröder added: “He’s a technically gifted and creative central midfielder, who has played over 300 games in France. He’s shown real consistency too. We’re excited to have him on board.”
Mollet scored six and created two in 35 league games for Montpellier last season. He’s S04’s second signing under Frank Kramer, who was appointed as head coach on Tuesday, following the arrival of Tobias Mohr from Heidenheim.
