Fenerbahçe attacking midfielder Sebastian Szymanski (26) has signed for Rennes, both clubs have announced. The Ligue 1 side reportedly agreed to a €10m transfer package with the Süper Lig giants for the 50-time Poland international. Szymanski has put pen to paper over a three-and-a-half-year deal with Habib Beye’s side. He will wear the No. 17 jersey for Rennes.
After a tepid start to the Ligue 1 season, Rennes are right in the fight to compete for European football next season. Les Rouge et Noir are currently sixth in the league. Failure to qualify for European competition again is expected to cost Beye his job. Rennes host Brittany rivals FC Lorient on Saturday.
