A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has been afforded a return to international duties with his country.
The player in question? David Alaba.
Stopper Alaba has for his part not taken to the pitch in Austrian colours for well over a year now.
This comes after the former Bayern Munich man suffered a ruptured ACL in his left knee all the way back in December of 2023.
Alaba recently returned to competitive action at club level, seeing out the full 90 minutes of a fixture for the first time in 15 months against Rayo Vallecano over the weekend.
And as much, as alluded to above, has since culminated in a recall for the 32-year-old to the international stage.
Austria’s latest squad of players was unveiled on Tuesday, ahead of an upcoming pair of Nations League fixtures against Serbia later this month.
And front and centre on the list of those called upon is Alaba, as showcased below:
