RB Leipzig have officially confirmed the capture of Nigerian youth international Suleiman Sani. Kicker reports that the German Red Bulls have paid a base-transfer-fee of €5m to acquire the youngster from Slovak outfit AS Trencin. A modest package of add-ons in the €1m range are also part of the deal.
Sani serves as Leipzig’s first winter addition of the current January 2025 transfer window. The 19-year-old has put up decent numbers in the Slovak first division this season, scoring three goals and contributing two assists.
Beyond that, little is known about the teenage talent. Kicker and other German footballing publications not even if full agreement over the spelling and ordering of the player’s name. Some sources refer to the thrice-capped Nigerian U20 international as “Suleman Sane”.
RB Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer has nevertheless been so gracious as to explain Sani’s skill set in great depth in his club statement. Schäfer also noted that Leipzig consider Sani more of a long-term prospect.

“In Suleiman Sani, we have signed a highly talented young winger,” Schäfer noted in a statement on the club’s website. “He has an exciting profile and all the attributes to take the next steps in his development at RB Leipzig. Suleiman mainly plays on the left side, has great pace, and is difficult to separate from the ball due to his physicality. He also works hard against the ball and shows the right attitude farther down the pitch.
“Thanks to the opportunity to sign him on a permanent basis, Suleiman gives us a head start for next summer,” Schäfer continued. “With him, we will be even broader and more versatile on the wings in the future. We will give Suleiman all the time he needs to find his feet in the Bundesliga and are very much looking forward to working with him.“
