Olympique de Marseille have officially announced the arrival of Gabonese international striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (34) from Chelsea FC, after the 34-year-old and the West London side mutually agreed to part ways.
Aubameyang fell out of favour with the Blues early on after his arrival at Stamford Bridge last year. His former Borussia Dortmund coach, Thomas Tuchel, played a vital part in his signing. The German manager, though, was sacked straight after his debut. The former Arsenal forward is now back in Ligue 1, after coming to prominence with Saint-Étienne at the start of the past decade. The Laval-born striker has reportedly signed a three-year deal with Les Phocéens.

Marseille are carrying out an impressive transfer window. Aubameyang is their third signing of the summer for the Marcelino-led side after the purchases of Brazilian international left-back Renan Lodi and of midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, both from Atlético Madrid. Aubameyang’s arrival may mean the end for Alexis Sánchez at Marseille. The Chilean international is out of contract with Les Phocéens and talks over a renewal have stalled. Marseille will play their second pre-season game of the summer against Belgian outfit KAS Eupen this Saturday.
