After five years in Germany, Stuttgart have announced the departure of 24-year-old Belgian midfielder Orel Mangala to newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest for a reported fee of an initial €13m. VfB could then receive a further €4m in bonuses, a sell-on percentage of over 10% has also been included.
Mangala had two-years remaining on his Stuttgart deal, sporting director Sven Mislintat said: “We have always emphasised that we take into account the economic conditions, the sporting evaluation and also the perspective of the player in our considerations when making offers and deciding on potential transfers.”
The Belgium international made 28 appearances in the Bundesliga last season for Stuttgart. Since arriving in Germany from Anderlecht in 2017, Mangala has played 109 games across all competitions and spent the 2018/19 season on loan at 2. Bundesliga Hamburg.
Mangala becomes the fourth player to join Nottingham Forest from the Bundesliga, following Taiwo Awoniyi, Moussa Niakhaté and Omar Richards.
