AS Monaco have officially announced the signing of Christian Mawissa (19) from Toulouse FC on a 5-year contract that will see him at the club until 2029. The total transfer fee for the young defender has not yet been disclosed, but Foot Mercato reported it to be in the region of €16 million including bonuses.
Mawissa is a pure Toulouse academy product having made his professional debut for the first team in the 2022/23 season. However, it was Toulouse’s last campaign that Mawissa truly made the breakthrough into the first team where the centre-back recorded 17 Ligue 1 appearances for Les Violets.
The defender has not much professional experience under his belt but Monaco have been convinced by what they’ve seen, and believe that he has the potential to become an exceptional player for the Principality and were reportedly more than happy to increase their valuation from an initial offer of €10 million for the teenager.
