Montpellier Hérault SC have officially confirmed the signing of Modibo Sagnan (24) from FC Utrecht.
The French centre-back developed at RC Lens where he made his professional debut before leaving the club to join Real Sociedad. Sagnan was used sparingly during his time in the Basque region, appearing only twenty-two times across four years.
Despite this Sagnan’s signature was still chased and soon the Frenchman joined FC Utrecht on loan in 2022, before signing with the club on a permanent basis last summer. During his time at the Dutch club, Sagnan found regular football again as he made 37 appearances over the last eighteen months for his new side and for the first time in his career scored twice for the same club.
However, the centre-back was once again on the move as Montpellier came calling for the former Lens player in this window in a deal that is thought to be worth around €3 million. Sagnan will come into the side to replace the outgoing Maxime Estève (21).
