In a press release, Le Havre AC have confirmed the extension of Matthieu Bodmer’s contract. The Frenchman will remain the club’s sporting director until 2027.
The former Olympique Lyonnais and Paris Saint-Germain player became the sporting director for Le Havre in 2022, and through his networks managed to use the club’s meagre resources to great effect.
The oldest club in France won Ligue 2 last season, with Bodmer’s focus on bringing in a mix of young and experienced talent helping to create a balanced squad. This season, results have begun to decline in recent weeks, and Le Havre find themselves only a point above the bottom three.

However, despite the club currently finding itself in a precarious position, Bodmer has decided to remain with Les Ciel et Marine. The Ligue 1 side have said that the extension of Bodmer’s contract is a “strong sign” amid reports throughout the season that the Frenchman was garnering interest from elsewhere.
“From the start, we said we were working towards the medium and long term. Things are going well here. It’s a club like no other, with history and it’s a real football city, with amateur sides, with whom we work well. Why would I look elsewhere,” reacted Bodmer. The focus now turns to maintaining Le Havre’s Ligue 1 status.
