Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of 17-year-old forward Mathys Tel from French side Stade Rennais.
It’s reported that the German champions have paid a transfer fee of €20m plus €8.5m in add-ons for the starlet.
The French youth international is expected to get playing time this season with the departure of Robert Lewandowski.
This is despite only making 10 appearances for Rennais last season.
Tel did also score five goals in six appearances for the France U18 side which is what attracted Bayern to the youngster in the first place.
Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić welcomed the new signing by saying in a statement: “Mathys Tel is one of the greatest talents in Europe, a very fast, technically strong and versatile striker. We’ve been watching him for a long time and have now been able to convince him to take his next important steps with us in Munich.”
Tel has signed a contract with the Bavarians until June 2027.
