Angel Gomes (24) may have left Lille OSC, however, he won’t be leaving France. Olympique de Marseille have confirmed that they have reached an agreement in principle to sign the England international.
Gomes’ contract at Lille is up this summer. It has been clear for several months that he would not be signing an extension. His departure was recently confirmed and, in anticipation of having to do without him next season, he did not feature for Bruno Genesio’s side towards the end of the Ligue 1 campaign.
The Manchester United academy product will play his football for Ligue 1 rivals Marseille next season. The club, who will play in the UEFA Champions League next season, have announced an agreement in principle. The Englishman was spotted in Marseille on Wednesday as he underwent his medical. It is expected that Gomes will sign a three-year deal with Les Phocéens, although the duration of the contract is yet to be confirmed by OM.
