Only days after the official announcement of the arrival of Ethan Mbappé (17) on a free transfer from PSG, Lille have announced their second signing of the summer, with Ngal’Ayel Mukau (19) joining from Belgian side’s KV Mechelen.
Mukau has been a revelation during his first professional season in Belgium’s top flight with KV Mechelen. Competing in 28 games across all competitions, the defensive midfielder has played a major role in the club’s impressive campaign, finishing only one place away from European football. Described as a versatile midfielder, the Congolese played in a 4-2-3-1 as a double pivot under the tenure of Besnik Hasi.
According to L’Équipe, Lille and KV Mechelen have reached an agreement for a €5M deal, and the Antwerp-born midfielder has signed a four-year deal with Les Dogues. With Mukau’s signing, Lille now have a plethora of central midfielders, including starters Benjamin Andre (33) and Nabil Bentaleb (29), young academy talent Ayyoub Bouaddi (16), Ignacio Miramon (21) and another new signing, Ethan Mbappé (17) and may look to offload their squad in the next few weeks.
