Bundesliga side FC Köln have today announced the signing of Kristian Pedersen on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Billy Goats after his contract at Birmingham expired.
“For me, playing in the Bundesliga is a dream come true. With Union Berlin, we finished fourth in 2017 and just missed out on promotion,” said Pedersen. “Therefore, I am pleased that after four years in England, this opportunity at such a big and traditional club like 1. FC Köln has presented itself.
“The talks with Christian Keller, Thomas Kessler and Steffen Baumgart were super. I like the way FC play football a lot. Brave, attacking, aggressive – that fits me well. For that reason, I’m certain that I’ll feel at home in Köln.”
Pedersen has played 161 games in all competition for Birmingham since his €2.5m move from Union Berlin in 2018 and can operate both at centre-back and left-back. The Dane is Köln’s second signing of the summer after Steffen Tigges moved to the RheinEnergieStadion from Borussia Dortmund last week.
